The Death of the Vampire

"A teenage girl risks everything when she falls in love with a vampire."

To the left here is a pic brought to you by google image search, keyword Twilight. The bolded quote above is the plot tag line on IMDB.com for the same movie.

First let me say that I have not seen any of the Twilight movies nor read the books. Despite that, it is impossible to not know all about them simply due to word of mouth. It seems that the whole world loves this series.
How such bad ass beings as vampires literally had their balls cut off and were made to be sexy and loving, which in turn was eaten up by the general public, disgusts me.

Vampires are not cute, hot, caring or capable of love. They are killing machines whose sole purpose is to feed on the blood of non-vampires. Their only goal is to take over the whole world and make human beings extinct. There are no good and bad vampires. They are all bad. They should cause fear and terror in the hearts and mind of every human.

Vampires are mythological or folkloric beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures, regardless of whether they are undead or a living person. In folkloric tales, vampires often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighbourhoods they inhabited when they were alive. They wore shrouds and were often described as bloated and of ruddy or dark countenance.

But here, Hollywood has decided that they should be lovable. It goes beyond movie and books though.
TV is even in on it. I have been forced to watch the Vampire Diaries. It is fucking terrible and more or less what I would expect the Twilight movies to mirror. Completely awful premises of how vampires choose to not kill certain people but fall in love with them instead.

What happened to the good old vampire movies like Dracula 2000 and the Blade series or even Interview with the Vampire? I blame teenage/twenty-something girls.
