Eye of the Tiger

One of the things I enjoy is watching PGA events on TV. People always look at me funny when I tell them I plan on watching a golf match. "Are you serious?" they ask. "Hell yea" is usually my response. Generally speaking, I only watch the majors and the other few events that Tiger Woods decides to play in. The clip above happened yesterday. Tiger was tied at -9 with another golfer (Bryant). Tiger was on the last hole and Bryant was already finished and in the clubhouse. As you can see, Woods drains the ridiculous putt for a birdie and the win. Here's the wrinkle; after the 2nd round he was 7 shots out of the lead and a long shot to win.

With that victory, Woods has won his last 7 tournaments and tied Ben Hogan for third place on the career victories list with 64 (he trails Nicklaus, 73, and Sam Snead, 82 for career PGA Tour wins). He's won more money than any golfer ever and is 2nd only to Jack Nicklaus in number of major victories, 13 to Jack's 18.

Woods is doing things right now no other golfer has the ability to do. As a golfer myself, I am in awe of his game and the shots he's able to make and his will to win. Woods will play in 1 or 2 more tournaments to warm up for the Masters, which is toward the end of April. Its the years first major, always held at Augusta, which Woods has won 4 times, though not since 2005. ( He finished 2nd last year and 3rd in 2006). You bet your ass I will watch as much of it as humanly possible. The reason, well I want to see something like this again:

Passing Of A Legend

Half the fun of watching the Packers work their way to the conference championship game last season was watching Favre. That's what I'll miss. He played like he was still drawing plays in the dirt. He played like his hair wasn't gray and his bones didn't ache.-Gene Wojciechowski ESPN.com

Brett Favre retired today. While not a Packers fan, I still love Favre. In fact you'd be hard pressed to find some one who doesn't like him. The man epitomizes everything that a NFL QB should be. He made plays no other QB could ever make, courtesy of his rocket arm, improvisational skills and flair for the dramatic. Next season just got a little less exciting.
